Two new tolled highways for Selangor: report

Harakahdaily

PETALING JAYA, Oct 12: The construction of two new tolled highways in Selangor is expected to be announced during the budget speech this Friday, according to financial weekly The Edge.

The paper's online news portal reported that two new highways would be built in Selangor to alleviate traffic woes plaguing road-users in the Klang Valley.

According to the sources of the report, the highway linking Damansara to Kinrara was proposed to divert traffic from the ever congested Damansara Puchong Expressway (LDP).

Meanwhile, the Damansara-Sungai Buloh highway is expected to see a new highway or bypass being built.

It was understood that Plus Expressways Bhd was appointed as the concessionaire for the route from Damansara to Kinrara, while Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) was appointed as the operator of the concession for the shortcut from Damansara to Sungai Buloh.

The construction of two routes is believed to be an important focus in infrastructure development plan which will be announced in the Budget 2011 speech.

Apart from that, The Edge also reported that Penang and Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur would also see their existing highway being upgraded to facilitate smoother flows of traffic.

It was also reported that a bypass or upgrading is being considered for the Sungai Dua to Juru road under PLUS’s supervision in Penang, which is currently a toll-free road, while city folks will benefit from PNB's upgrading of the Ampang-Cheras highway.

There are presently 22 toll road concessionaires in the country.

Note:

Di Belanda tiada lebuhraya yang dikenakan tol, semua percuma. Pernah ada ura-ura untuk membina lebuhraya tol tetapi mendapat bantahan rakyat maka dibatal cadangan tersebut.
